Thanks for the great amp and great service! When I bought the amp, I wasn't sure that the difference in sound would be worth the price and the awkwardness of carrying another box. Now I know. Actually, while it gives a nice punch to the iPod, where the amp really shines is when I hook it up to the home stereo. I have a very fine pre-amp but the sound is just amazingly better when I drive the headphones with the Portaphile. I'm not sure I should say this but it's really worth a lot more than you charge for it.

Just got the portaphile V2 and am in the process of burning it in.
I call already hear improvements. The added power is resolving the
music to a much greater degree. Lows, mids and Highs are all that much sharper. The Portaphile is an awesome little product. Well done!

Well my Portaphile V2 has burned in. Here's what the Amp is doing for me. Regardless of headphone, the music that I hear has a richness and dimensionality that my Rio Karma by itself, could not match. The Karma's amp is no wimp but the sound that I hear through the Portaphile is different class. The music that reaches my ears has a weight that hangs it in 3 dimensions. As if, you could walk round the note. I'm currently listening to Harold Budd's beautiful "Avalon Sutra" and his contemplative scores hang in the air between my Karma and my ears. I can hear Mr Budd pressing down on the keys while he plays the sax. It's that wonderful combination of musical richness and detail that we all crave.The Portaphile V2 has turned an already excellent MP3 player into an outstanding one. This combination comes very close to besting my Musical Fidelity kit.

I received my V2^2 last Saturday and it has finished it's initial burn-in. I thought that I would share my initial impressions with you. A short review would be, "Wow!" Now, for a little more detail. I really like the new built-in DC plug. That is much more convenient than changing backplates on the V2.....As before with the V2, build quality is outstanding. The switches address a problem I have with different headphones. It is nice to be able to select a low gain for my UM2's and a high gain for my Senn 580's. I was very impressed with sound stage, instrumentality, and separation of the original V2. After the initial burn-in, I am stunned that a $200 portable amplifier is this good. The sound stage is virtually limitless. On several live albums I have felt as if I am on stage with the performers in an 80,000 seat stadium. I am equally impressed with the separation. On several of my Duke Ellington albums I have now heard instruments that were previously muddled with an outstanding clarity. In Vivaldi's "Spring," I am convinced that I can hear every instrument in the orchestra and I will eventually count them. I have not been this impressed since I first received my Zen Triode. Finally the top end is more dynamic and has more reach and the bottom end feels more accurate to me. Overall it is an outstanding amp that isa lot of fun.

After a few months of using my new portaphile V2^2 all I can say is WOW! It is priced right, is a great size and just works (R) The amp paired up with my Sennheiser 650's is a great combo for overall price, quality and total weight.

I just want to inform you that the X^3 arrived in a good shape, and I'm very pleased with it so far. Actually, it arrived a week ago, but I was out of home for some time...
I've also found, that my "standard" 2005 X^3 includes "Switches"....Great! I've immediatelly changed to high-gain as it better fits my HD-580 phones. I assume that the "Gain Settings" are the only switches that are

I must say that I have here a high quality product. High quality components, classy presentation, great flexibilty thanks to the switches. My Ksc-75 (Low Gain) and my DT990 (High Gain, 6buffers, Class A) has been transfigured.
Portaphile V2² reveales your cans' bass, but never exagerates them, they are controlled, at last ! Without the 6 buffers, you get more exciting highs. To sum up for mids, you always have what you need : punchy or full of lust, play with the switches to get what you need. I also highly advise Ultrasone's owners to get one to feed their bass and to not kill Ultrasone exclusive sound presentation. As I tried it with a HFI-650, I can tell you "that's the spirit !". Concerning power, you will never be lacking of, especially as a Home amp.
Thank you Cesar for this very versatile amp, and thank you too for sending me a working amp just right out of the box ! :D (Note: Customer reportedly had problems ordering working amplifiers from two of my competitors)
